REVIEW ON QVS BRUSHES

Hello my beautiful friends..Sorry for the delay you guys, I was really caught up in a family thing..now back to normal..phew..So today's post is a review on QVS brushes, I haven't tried them all but I picked three of their brushes and have given my honest opinion.

The ones that I bought are, a flat foundation brush, an angular eyeshadow brush and an angular liner brush. You guys might wonder why two angular brushes, I bought them separately and when I asked them for an eyeshadow brush, this is the one the shop assistants gave me.
Their brushes are so good, they are cheaper and the handles are sturdy. The hair/bristles are super soft and flexible. These brushes make the application of the product super easy. I've been using these brushes through out this month and I have been loving them, they have made my routine so easy. The best part is that they haven't shed even a single hair after multiple washes. The only con has to be fewer models. These brushes are not for professional use.

Let me begin with the eye brushes,
The angular eyeshadow brush: The bristles are super soft and flexible..maybe way too flexible. I personally like to use this brush for doing my eyebrows, sometimes to smudge the liner or for application of shadows on the lower lash line. I tried using them as a regular eyeshadow brush, but it didn't work. I had to use too much of product and even so I didn't like the finish.
The angular liner brush: Again, their brisltes are soft and they are flexible but are not as flexible as the other brush, which is good as one can have good control over this brush than the other. This brush can also be substituted for the other too, you can use it for eyebrows, application of shadows on lower lash line, and smudging your liner along with the actual liner application. So obviously, out of these two brushes, I would totally recommend the smaller angular brush.

The only face brush that I bought was the flat foundation brush. It looks like a duo fiber brush but I guess it's not. Eventhough it is a flat foundation brush, I use this brush for application of almost all the products. I apply my foundation, concealer, cream contour (cream products), set my under eye area with powder and I also use this for powder contour (told you, it has made my life easy).

I forgot the price of these brushes but I'm pretty sure the price range is below Rs.500/- and I bought these brushes at a store called NEW U, you can also find them at HEALTH AND GLOW.  If you guys are looking for quality brushes but inexpensive ones, then definitely give them a try.

** Sorry about the lighting, I was trying out a new lighting and also I unknowingly changed my camera settings and couldn't edit them at all **

MAKEOVER FOR PONGAL

Hello, my advance Pongal wishes to those who'll be celebrating Pongal. For those who don't know what Pongal is..it's basically a harvest festival celebrated mainly by farmers. When we think of Pongal, sugarcane is the first thing that pops into our mind..secondly,the most common thing we all do is wear a traditional outfit, mostly sarees, bindi, braided hairdo etc..and most of us go light on our makeup too. I personally love to do bold looks but in this post, I have used subtle colours (maximum) for achieving an effortless, soft glam look. Hope y'all like it and sorry about the pictures I'm very sick and I had to do the look and take pictures by myself, no matter what I did my face looked swollen and weird.

1.Prime and prep:
Apply some primer and colour correct where ever needed also apply an eyeshadow base and set it with some powder.

2.Define your outer one third of your eyes (outer V) with some brown gel liner/pencil and smudge it in such a way that there should be some colour pay-off without any harsh lines. I used Music Flower gel liner on the outer V.

3.On crease put any orange and blend well. The transition colour should appear as if it was blended with the brown. I used Red Brick by MAC as my transition colour.

4.Place any brown eyeshadow on top of the gel liner and again blend just the edges. I used a brown called Embark by MAC.

5.The eyeshadow on the inner two third (lid) is based on your complexion,
                                    Fair-Medium : Gold + Copper
                                    Medium-Dark : Bronze + Copper
I basically mixed three eyeshadows -Sable + Coppering +Wood winked by MAC.
Use pigment/Glitters(personal preference, I didn't use any as I wanted my look to be very simple)

6.Complete your base makeup- colour correcting, foundation , concealer so on..I didn't go overboard on my base.. I jus tcolour corrected, used my KRYOLAN foundation and contoured a bit.

7.Back to the eyes, apply some black kajal on your lower waterline. Tightline/ line your upper waterline if needed.

8.(optional) Highlight the inner corners of your eyes. I used a gold eyeshadow(forgot the brand)

9.Apply some liner and smudge it. I used Music Flower gel liner. Apply mascara, falsies if needed, again I didn't apply any falsies as I wanted the look to simple. Liner, you can do a winged liner or a normal liner, I did a normal liner and while smudging created a wing(shadow).

Apply another coat of everything; for lower lashline set your kajal with some black eyeshadow and smudge the it. Finish the look by adding any lipstick of your preference. I mixed three shades to get a bright pink with a hint of orange and red, you can also use a nude lipstick but make sure it has a hint of pink . Nude lipsticks wash you out/look ashy in photographs.

That's it for the Pongal look guys, have fun eating all delicious food and sweet sugarcanes (don't stain your dresses). See ya..Once again happy Pongal.

PREP FOR PONGAL

Hello my beautiful friends..It's the second week of January..you know what comes next..yep it's time for Pongal. We all like to dress up in traditional attire and enjoy the sugarcane season but to rock the festive don't we all want to look fresh and flawless. Yeah, yeah makeup to the rescue..but there is one prime step that we all forget about. If you're thinking about cleansing and moisturising your skin..you're somewhere close.  So here is a small 'prep tutorial for your skin' or a 'facial at home tutorial' to look your best on Pongal. (This is how I personally like to do it, you can change the steps to your convenience).

1. Cleanse your face with a suitable face wash. Ok some might wonder, it's just face wash, one can just use any brand and hope that it would do it's job. It doesn't work like that. Say for an instance, you have oily skin and you opt for a mild face wash, what good is that going to do to you. Everyone has unique skin types and the most common skin types are: Normal, Dry, Oily, Combination, Sensitive. Firstly try to understand which skin type you belong to and choose a face wash respectively. How can you identify what skin type you belong to, below I have listed few things that you can observe from your face and come to a conclusion :
  •                          Oily skin - too much oil secretion (oily face) and large pores
  •                           Dry skin - flaky dry patches, sometimes the skin might feel taut                                                                            after wash
  •                           Combination skin - Oily on the T-zones and rest of your face is                                                                             normal to dry
  •                           Normal skin - Neither oily nor dry
  •                            Sensitive - Red patches, itchiness
After all the tough math, what kind of face wash can one use is listed down,
  •                         Oily skin type - Deep cleansing
  •                         Normal skin type - Any face wash
  •                         Dry skin type - Mild or any oil based face wash
  •                         Combination skin type - Oil free face wash or using two                                                                                           different face washes
  •                          Sensitive skin type - Mild or something with Aloevera as                                                                                         an ingredient in it.

2. Before I start doing anything on my face, I like to remove my facial hair. I use a pen razor/blade sort of a thing to remove. You can find these in amazon.in for cheap. The one that I use is by QVS and I bought it from a beauty store called NewU. After removing, clean the fall outs, rinse your face and pat it dry.

3.  Steam away! Steaming opens your pores and helps it breathe. Boil a glass of water for steaming and pour it into a bowl. You can add any essential oil in to that water, if you don't have one, you can even add your green tea bags. While steaming cover your face and the bowl with a towel. Never stream your face over 10 minutes as it may open your pores way too much causing acne and too much oil secretion. I steam my face for only 6 minutes and I break this into two steps.

First I steam my face for three minutes, pat my face dry then, scrub my face and with the scrub on my face I steam my face for 3 minutes. Never scrub your face before steam.

4. Mask it up! Steaming leaves your pores open and this is the ideal time to pull out all the impurities that has been hiding beneath your skin. So quickly put on any face mask (cream/sheet) and leave for atleast 10 minutes (do check the package if they have mentioned any time). You can even multi-mask :applying different masks focusing a particular area of the face. Wash your face and pat down your face, never rub your face.

5. (optional) After the mask, I like to use the blackhead strips on my nose.

6.After all these steps, your face might tend to get taut and feel dry. Apply a toner, serum, moisturiser ( toner, serum, night cream -if you are doing it before bed) to lock the facial oil and nourish your skin.
Ideal time to do this is at night and you can make this a routine..do this only once a week or maybe once a month and you would definitely notice a change.

P.S. My face is swollen so much because of Sinus infection so, just bare with me guys.

I like doing this 'facial at home' at night time, after all the rough work I deserve a long beauty sleep, right? Hope y'all have a nice time pampering your skin. See y'all soon with a simple Pongal makeup tutorial..

FAVOURITE PRODUCT OF THE MONTH (DECEMBER)

Hey wonderful people..How was New year's? So far so good..Lets just hope that this year turns out to be eventful and productive..And hey what are your resolutions for this year?Mine is to be more organised (I'm one messy creature)..Comment down yours..Okay..so all December I've been loving this CC cream by FACES cosmetics and here is why..

FACES - CC CREAM IN THE SHADE SAND
Basically BB and CC creams are lighter version of foundations. They have various purpose, for instance, CC (Colour Correcting) cream helps correct redness etc, whilst giving you a sheer coverage. For an everyday purpose a CC or a BB cream is more than enough and the best part, they can be used as a base product before foundation too.

This CC cream like the others in the market comes in a tube..should I even say it?? Ok it's travel-friendly! I've tried almost all the BB creams and CC creams, from Maybelline to Loreal to Lakme (I haven't tried from The body shop and Clinique) but was never satisfied..say, the Lakme's CC creams were raved by many, but it looked blotchy on me. It looked like as if I put blush/rose powder all over my face, but FACES CC cream turned out to be a perfect match. It is kind of like a mousse foundation. It is very, very light on skin, applies..nah glides on, literally, like some velvet potion on the skin. One can apply this even with their fingers and it won't look patchy but to get the best finish use a buffing brush. Unlike other BB/CC creams it doesn't turn my face pink and leaves no white residue. I love the finish it gives, natural glow-from-within/dewy kind of finish without looking oily.
It stays longer than any other CC/BB creams. It stays for a good 6 hours and then kind of gets oily on the T-zone. People with Normal and Dry skin types needn't necessarily set it with powder while I definitely recommend people with Oily and Combination skin types to set it with powder at least your T-zone. The only con is they have only two shades- Natural and Sand. So definitely try them before buying.
